A story that continues

Our expertise

If these pieces could speak, they would describe the palms of the hands of those who held them. They would detail for us the small exchanges that they allowed. They would tell us about the time spent at the bottom of a drawer, a jacket pocket or a child's piggy bank. And then, knowing this second life that Le Sou Français offers them, they would project themselves into the future while continuing to witness your story.

The DNA of the French penny

Our know-how goes through four essential stages which make up the DNA of Sou Français:

  • The search for coins: for our creations, we use two types of coins: Lindauer coins, manufactured between the years 1917 to 1939, and new francs manufactured from the 1960s until the changeover to the euro.
  • Restoration: meticulous work is necessary so that every penny is restored and thus finds a new and uniform appearance.
  • Plating: so that our pieces continue a long journey alongside you, we work with 3 types of plating: 925g micron silver, 24 carat 3 micron gold and matte black coating.
  • The creation of the jewel: the different models are then worked by hand in our workshop located in the South West of France, in Hossegor.

More than a room

Today, if this know-how resides mainly in the fact of sourcing each coin, some, like Lindauer perforated coins, are becoming increasingly rare. Useful the creation of our iconic piece thanks to which the Le Sou Français adventure began, we thought a lot about the continuation of this model. So, always in this spirit of transmitting and promoting our history and our heritage, we decided to reproduce this model of coin from the last century.
